A good steward...
is someone who takes on the task
of managing well what has been entrusted to him or her.
Since 1989 we have sought to live up to this honorable vocation— DIRECTLY,
with sellers, buyers, tenant residents, and many others.
The Mission of
Stewardship Properties is to
SERVE PEOPLE IN THEIR HOUSING NEEDS
as well as enhance the livability of properties and
our communities for generations to come.
Stewardship Properties
includes four interdependent teams:
Bill Syrios began Stewardship Properties in 1989 with the purchase of a house near the University of Oregon. He hoped for a modest success at upgrading and managing the property. This was no small task for Bill, given that he had done it once before and failed. While living in Portland in the early 80’s he tried his hand at remodeling and being a property manager. It is a toss up as to which he did a worse job at—remodeling or being a property manager. He was so lousy at both that he considered writing a book entitled, How NOT to Invest in Real Estate!
After moving to Eugene in 1986 it took Bill three years to get up the nerve to try again. But he learned from his mistakes, looked for good people to help him, and started again. One thing led to another and a sizable real estate investment company emerged far beyond what he ever imagined which now includes offices in Eugene and Salem.
Beginning in the summer of 2005, Bill started a real estate internship with ten college students. During the summer of 2006 another six students signed up for the experience. Six of those sixteen interns became “returns” and began Stewardship’s Investment Team—serving people and working hard to create win/win transactions with sellers and with buyers. Stewardship’s four teams work closely together to fulfill our mission of SERVING PEOPLE IN THEIR HOUSING NEEDS. For those seeking a higher return on their money, we also provide some attractive options. See: www.PrivateLenderWanted.com. Additionally, we have a note buying service for those desiring to turn their seller-carried notes into immediate cash. See: www.NoteWanted.com. It would be our privilege to assist you, or anyone else you know, who could use our services.
Stewardship Properties' long-term vision is to mentor other real estate investors around the country who will help sellers, buyers and renters by providing for their housing needs. The hope is to see many others take on the Stewardship namesake and provide their community with this service while making a good living themselves. To that end we are beginning to set up affiliate programs for those who are interested in our adopting our name, support and systems. See: www.TheGoodStewards.com
One Last Word
It was not quite as clear back in 1989, but even when the business consisted of one house and me I wanted to see something larger happen than just myself making money and that’s why I chose the name Stewardship Properties. Being a steward reminds me that I’m “just passing through” this life and consequently I don’t really own anything—I just manage things. There is a passage in the Psalms that says, “The Lord owns cattle on a thousand hills.” This also identifies who owns all the real estate! Being a good steward is a high calling. I’m thankful to God for his grace in growing this company as well as for having such a quality group of fellow managers involved with me. –Bill Syrios
